Parents are the primary educators of their children especially with regard to the Catholic faith. The CCD Program is designed to assist parents of public school or home-schooled children in Grades 1 - 8 with this Catholic education.
The most important responsibilities of a CCD Parent are to personally practice the Catholic faith and to ensure that your children do the same. This includes attending Mass every Sunday (or Saturday night if necessary) and every Holy Day of Obligation. Mass should only be missed for a serious reason such as illness, dangerous weather or road conditions, or a true emergency. Shopping, running errands, sports, hobbies, vacations, social activities/parties, and "sleeping in" are NOT serious reasons for missing Mass.
Note that due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays/Saturday nights and Holy Days has been temporarily removed. However, there is still an obligation to keep the Lord's Day holy by watching Mass on TV or the Internet if possible, prayer, and resting/avoiding unnecessary work.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, CCD teachers will not be meeting with CCD students in Holy Cross School classrooms. Remote learning options and a family based Catholic education program are currently being investigated as alternative instructional tools.
More information is available in the 9/12/2021 Holy Cross Bulletin found on the Bulletins page of this website. There is also an informational meeting for all CCD parents in Holy Cross Church (not the school) from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on September 19th, 2021.
