1000 Acts of Kindness
Begins August 15th
The shared mission of the Mendota Catholic Parishes is: "To help all persons live out and understand the relevance and priority of Jesus Christ and His Gospel in the Catholic Faith". To accomplish this mission, the Mendota Catholic Parishes are launching an initiative named “1000 Acts of Kindness”. (Click/Tap HERE or on "Be Kind" image above for more details.)

Praise be to God!
We exceeded our goal.* * * * * * *Thank you to all who have participated in 1000 Acts of Kindness, especially those people who individually recorded a large number of Acts of Kindness and to the Holy Cross School students who made the final push in November to get us over the top. The efforts of our priests and the members of the Sheen Evangelization Team who helped promote, facilitate, and manage this initiative are also greatly appreciated. Soon, we will be taking down the Acts of Kindness bulletin boards and cards from the vestibules of our churches. However, you will continue to be able to record your Acts of Kindness online.

Temporary Sunday Mass Dispensation
Due to COVID-19, Bishop Daniel Jenky has temporarily suspended the obligation for Catholics of the Diocese of Peoria to participate at/attend Sunday Mass. However, there is still an obligation to keep the Lord's Day, Sunday, holy by watching Mass on TV or the Internet if possible, prayer, and resting/avoiding unnecessary work.

Who We Are
-
Holy Cross Parish and Sts. Peter and Paul Parish serve Catholics and the community at large in and around Mendota, IL. Mendota is approximately 90 miles southwest of Chicago among the corn fields of north central Illinois. Holy Cross Church is located within the city limits of Mendota. Sts. Peter and Paul Church is located in rural Mendota approximately 4 miles southwest of the city of Mendota. Holy Cross School, the parishes' shared Catholic elementary school (PK - 8), is located immediately adjacent to Holy Cross Church. The two parishes also share the same priest, parish staff, parish office, and a wide range of resources and activities. Both parishes are part of the Catholic Diocese of Peoria.

Adoration Times
MONDAY thru FRIDAY:
9:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Regular volunteers commit to one hour a week time slots. Visitors are always welcome. Call Karen Brandner at (815) 915 - 6635 to volunteer as a regular or substitute adorer.
ALL Eucharistic Adoration is held at Holy Cross Church in the Our Lady of the Cenacle (Mothers') Chapel.
Adoration may be suspended on holidays or during special events in the main body of the Church.
NOTE: If you are homebound, call the Parish Office at (815) 538 - 6151 to make arrangements for receiving the Holy Eucharist at home.
